Recent In-Person Event: Rally for Disability Freedom & Justice; Wednesday, August 14th, 2024!
Non-partisan Rally to welcome the Caravan for Disability Freedom & Justice to Indiana!
Featuring personal stories of Hoosiers with Disabilities, non-partisan Voter Registration Booth by Indiana Disability Rights, ADA & Disability Rights Information Booth by ADA IN, Educational Displays celebrating the rich history of Disability Culture in the US, current Legislative Co-Sponsor recognition & new Congressional Co-Sponsor Commitment Signing Ceremony, Food Trucks and more, the Rally for Disability Freedom & Justice was a free event welcoming the Caravan for Disability Freedom & Justice to Indiana on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024 with a transformative celebratory and educational program from 2pm to 4pm on the Museum Lawn in front of the Indiana State Museum at White River State Park:
The Caravan for Disability Freedom & Justice has been traveling our nation promoting non-partisan voter registration and passage of the nationally bi-partisan supported Latonya Reeves Freedom Act, (H.R. 2708 & S. 1193) which will enshrine everyone's right to live independently in the community of their choice with Long Term Services & Supports provided through Home & Community Based Services as a matter of Civil Rights Law. (I know, it's astounding that we don't currently have that right in 2024). People with Disabilities are the only cross-demographic culture that is exponentially growing due to conditions of aging, birth, and trauma. Most Hoosiers will experience some form of disability during their life, either their own or that of a loved one. Passage of the Latonya Reeves Freedom Act will support everyone, please reach out to Indiana's US Senators & representatives to demand they co-sponsor this legislation today!
